fade to grey - grau

Time for the first review on one of my favourite books for small projects:

"Knitting little luxuries" by Louisa Harding published by Interweave Press

Beautiful Accessories to Knit which they choose for a second headline reveals it all.

As my knitting time is sometimes very limited and my sock drawer already full of pretties I am really fond of such a treasure chest of ideas which are presented on 128 pages full of mouth watering shots of wraps, cardis, scarves, mittens, hats, bags and purses. So feminine and very vintage!
I have already every oneskein book on the market but where to get the hands on those US yarns?
Problem solved, get this one. All yarns are available in Germany and affordable, next plus.
Projects made of few skeins of lovely yarns as Grace and Glisten and limited time but with an outcome of great beauty.
Although most of them require basic knitting experience a novice will get them done too with a little extra help and these illustrations at the end of the book.

What I wanted to make at once was the Alice Beret then I rummaged through my sample basket and found those magic greys, the new Gedifra yarns for summer 2008 and decided on knitting a purse: "The Catherine Purse"
which I modified slightly by adding mother-of-pearl-buttons and i-cords.
A taupe batik for a lining will stop small objects from falling through the lace holes. Knit on needles 5mm it was a great TV project.

This very elegant gray purse will be an unusual but nifty partner to my new grey pinstripe suit. More purses will surely follow....................

By the way- do you remember this song from 1981:

Gorgeous!!! I love the purse! Very elegant. The video was so fun to watch! I don't remember that song, but I do remember dressing like that and loving the "New Wave" stuff--it was so very "deep" and arty then. Now? Well, it looks a wee bit silly with all that make-up, hair, and strangeness. Ah well, we thought we were cool...
